TwitchTalks was back live this week with another interesting questions to students at UA! The question we chose to look at this week was, “What is the best bar on campus and why?” Like always there were some interesting responses.
Gallettes was one of the highest voted bars for UA students. One of the many reasons submitted were, “yellow hammers.” Everybody likes a good yellow hammer. Another was, “Gallettes- the DJ is always bumpin and yellow hammers, DUH!” There were many more responses about Gallettes and yellow hammers. “5$ wine and free cover on Wednesday s.” Wine Wednesdays is always a hit even though it falls in the middle of the week. I can’t believe no one said anything about the cups though.
Another bar that got voted for a lot was Innisfree. “Innisfree because everyone there is a degenerate.” Fair enough. “Innisfree, I think it’s the most fun.” “Innis… something about the Irish.” If you haven’t tried Innis out yet, you should. Also, there is no way we could forget about Morgan Wallen come to Innisfree. Saturday Night Live even made a skit including Innisfree in the background making fun of the situation. “Best bar is Innisfree, but deep down we all have a love for Rounders.”
Another Alabama student tradition was voted on this list. Rounders. This person was very passionate about Rounders. “Rounders!!! I don’t care what people say, Rounders is fun as f***. Literally anything goes at Rounders… The music is usually good, and I love the club-like atmosphere.” “Rounders boom boom room as a freshman because you know what happens in there.” The boom boom room at Rounders makes it memorable.
A vote came in that surprised us. “Lloyd, it gets rowdy.” I think everyone would love to see this. I don’t think anyone expected Lloyd to make the list.
Moes got votes as well for best bar. “Moes, drinks are cheap.” A great one was, “Moes because the bingo caller is attractive.” I hear a lot of people going to Moes for bingo, maybe this is the real reason. Moes also has great food. Nothing better than being able to get great drinks and great food in the same place.
With most of the big bars out of the way, there were many more votes for smaller bars. This response said, “Gray lady because of the cheap drinks and room to talk and move around.” Rhythm also got a few votes, “Rhythm for the live music.” Live music is great occasionally. It is great to have this at a bar. Another vote was, “Bear trap the aesthetic.”
Each bar is different and has many different things each do well. It really depends on what you are feeling for your night out. This is the great thing about being in Tuscaloosa. All the many options you have on a nightly basis.
