The Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga

Share

This week Maslim and I will be streaming a new release in The Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga. This remastered collection includes all nine films of the popular franchise and allows players to explore them in any order. This game was announced back in 2019 but after years of dealing with Covid-19 and other setbacks, the game was finally released this month. Included in the game are the first three prequels, followed by the original trilogy, ending the game with the three most recent films of the Star Wars Trilogy. Lego has been known to model their games off popular franchises such as Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, and even Batman. While they’re not the most realistic games, they provide an enjoyable experience that can be shared with just about anyone.

When deciding to play this game, Maslin and I thought this new game would be a different feel to the games we have streamed in the past. When you begin the game you are offered the chance to start at any point in the franchise. Like most people, we chose to begin with the prequels and follow the story in chronological order. This game takes you across multiple galaxies visiting places like Kamino, Naboo, and Mustafar. You’ll meet characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Emperor Palpatine, Jango Fett, and many more.

If you’ve never got the chance to play a Lego game before you may not know that Lego likes to be interactive with their games and often adds a bit of comedic relief. Especially in this game when certain characters are killed off there is a slight change from the main story. This game still holds up and delivers an incredibly fun experience regardless of its somewhat silly takes. The only issue I have found with this game is that it’s not an online multiplayer game. It features local multiplayer which both parties have to be playing on one console but no online capabilities. This was upsetting to find out considering that after being in development for so long and having a delayed release it was unable to deliver what some players wanted desperately.

Regardless of its online struggles, The Skywalker Saga introduces us to over 300+ playable characters while previously only offering about 60. These can be unlocked by playing through the stories as well as finding hidden easter eggs around the different worlds. I truly believe this is one of the best star wars games ever made and the animation in it honestly looks better than some of the previous star wars titles that have been released. I think any gamer even if they’ve never watched the films before could find fun and entertainment in this game. As Maslin and I get to the end of our streaming days for this class we hope these last two weeks help our audiences find new experiences to enjoy. We will both stream The Skywalker Saga this Wednesday and Sunday at 7pm and we hope you all come tune in. Don’t forget as well that we will end our weekly streams next week as Maslin and I will be playing party games.
