Crisp, chilled veggies like snap peas and baby carrots become satisfying snacks when paired with hummus or guacamole, while homemade popsicles made with real fruit juice offer a guilt-free way to cool down on sweltering days. Just Chatting T-Town Recs…

Clare – She insists that Chuck’s Fish is the place to go! She would order “almost anything on the menu” but here’s her go-to. Start things off with an uptown shrimp appetizer. For your entree, go the sushi route with a California roll. Finally, wrap things up for dessert with a blondie or white bread pudding.

However, she couldn’t just commit to one restaurant recommendation. She also suggests local hit Dreamland BBQ. What to order? She suggests a regular pulled pork sandwich (extra pickles) with a side of mac n cheese. For dessert, she recommends their banana pudding.

Ashley – Jack Brown’s Burger Bar guarantees to deliver a delicious burger and a great time. While you can’t go wrong, she suggests the Cobra Kai burger. This burger is topped cream cheese, pickled Jalapeños and Jalapeño jelly. Add a side of sweet potato fries to round out your meal.

Kelsie – If you’re in a food truck mood, she recommends Cheese Louise. A twist on the classic grilled cheese, they offer unique grilled concoctions. Her go-to is the Gentleman, which features Muenster cheese, pulled pork bbq, and chipotle sauce on toasted white bread. As a bonus, they appear on campus and accept dining dollars!

One thing is abundantly clear: spring and summer offer a feast for the senses and a celebration of community. From the vibrant produce found at farmers markets to the inventive dishes served up at Tuscaloosa’s diverse dining establishments, summer is a time to savor every delicious moment. Whether you’re indulging in a refreshing cocktail at a local bar, sampling savory snacks inspired by the season, or gathering with loved ones to enjoy a picnic in the sunshine, the possibilities are endless. As the days grow shorter and the temperatures begin to cool, let’s hold onto the memories of summer’s culinary delights and look forward to the flavors that each new season brings. Cheers to a summer filled with good food, great company, and unforgettable moments shared around the table.
