We have arrived at the MLB All-Star Break, and while many players will be taking time off to rest and prepare for the second half of the season. The game’s elite will head to Atlanta, GA, for All-Star week festivities. Let this post be your guide to all the action and fun surrounding the All-Star Week.
The Home Run Derby
The home run derby is one of the most exciting events of MLB All-Star week. The MLB’s best power hitters will clash to see who can hit the most home runs on the night.
The Home Run Derby format can be confusing after the changes made last year. The 8 participants will battle it out to see who can hit the most home runs in 3 minutes, or before they expire their 40-pitch minimum. Each of the competitors is given a bonus period after each round that will allow them to add to their total until they record three outs. If a competitor hits a home run over 425 feet, then their session will end after a fourth out.
The second round consists of the 4 competitors who hit the most home runs in the first round. The format remains the same as the first, but now the competitors will face off against one another.
The third and final round puts the two winners from round two in a head-to-head competition to determine the champion. The final round has a maximum time of two minutes and is limited to 27 pitches. The bonus period still applies and functions like it did in rounds 1 and 2.

During last year’s MLB All-Star week, Teoscar Hernandez of the Los Angeles Dodgers won the home run derby. Truist Park is a hitter-friendly ballpark, so there should be plenty of home runs. You can catch the 2025 MLB home on ESPN on Monday, July 14, 2025.
MLB All-Star Game
The All-Star game is the last event that will take place during All-Star week. The National and American Leagues will field teams consisting of the MLB’s best to play in a standard 9-inning baseball game. The starters are selected by you, the fans, but every team will send at least one player.
The American League team leads the series 48-44, and is the winner of 3 of the last 4 games, including last year’s All-Star game. There have actually been two ties in the history of the All-Star game, occurring in 1961 and 2002.
The All-Star game MVP is voted on by the fans, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, and the announcers of the game’s broadcast rights. FOX owns the rights to broadcast the MLB All-Star game. You can watch the All-Star game live on FOX Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Truist Park
MLB All-Star week will be hosted by the Atlanta Braves’ home ballpark park Truist Park. The park is one of the newest MLB ballparks, as construction was completed back in 2017. The park seats over 40,000 fans and has many features honoring the legacy of the Atlanta Braves franchise. In left field, the Hank Aaron terrace seats, and in right field, the Chop House concession area. If you are attending the game in person sure to check out the Battery ATL outside of the ballpark.
