Spring 2024 Fashion Ins and Outs

Share

Styles go “in” and “Out” of fashion so easily nowadays, especially with the help of global social media platforms like TikTok. And, if you are on any of the apps, you are no stranger to hearing anyone and everyone talk about what they think is in and what they think is out. Now, if you have been following ANY of my other blog posts, you know I am a huge advocate for not caring about what other people think about the way you dress, and you know I am a huge supporter of wearing what you want regardless of what the trends are. But we are all just a girl, and let’s face it, we are always curious about what exactly is “in” and what is “out”. Today that’s exactly what I’m going to talk about. Here’s what is in and what is out for spring 2024:

INs:

Ballet flats

Whether you love them or hate them ballet flats have made a HUGE come back this season. What used to be the most hated shoe of 2018, has now become one of the most coveted footwear options in the industry. Weather they’re your everyday simple square toe flats or a double buckled flat, these shoes are perfect for dressing up a more casual outfit or dressing down a nicer one. With so many ways to wear them, and with how comfortable they are, ballet flats are a no-brainer

Colored Sunglasses

This one is taking it wayyyy back to the 70’s, but one of the most popular spring “Ins” is sunglasses with colored lenses. From blue, to yellow, to purple, to red, this trend has really taken over the fashion world and were not complaining. While the trend is all about funky colored lenses, all of the frames are very classic shaped with the simple and classical tortoise shell coloring we all know and love. This makes these glasses an easy way to spice up an outfit, because they aren’t too “In your face” with the funkiness. The small touch of color while keeping the overall vibe classic and timeless is perfect for adding the tiniest bit of flair to any outfit without worrying about whether it matches the vibe or not. Amazon has some great sunglass choices and these are my favorite!

Colorful Trucker Hats

This is a trend I’ve talked about before, and its one that’s been around for the past few seasons but it seems like bold and colorful trucker hats are here to stay! Pair a colorful hat with a bold logo or saying with some classic wide-leg blue jeans, a plain white t-shirt, and some white sneakers for a fresh take on a classic look that is perfect for any day-time or casual occasion! Seager has some of my favorite hats!

Embellished jeans

We all remember the colored skinny jeans trend in the 2016’s, well meet 2024’s take: Embellished and metallic jeans. Every day we are seeing more and more clothing brands roll out with dozens of colors of metallic jeans, blue jeans covered in pearls, jeans with bows and sequins, and full on wax coated jeans. Honestly, I’m a fan. I know they’re not for everyone, but similar to the glasses, I think they can be a fun way to spice up a classic outfit, without being too out there. Try pairing pearl covered, wide-leg blue jeans, with a classic white button up, aviator sunglasses, and a pair of sensible nude kitten heels for a classic, polished look, with a little bit of spice. These Abercrombie jeans are the perfect offer the perfect mix of out of the box embellishments and classic style and color.

Mini skirts

Miniskirts are back and in full swing, and not just for the club. More and more, we are seeing celebrities and models’ pair casual mini-skirts with undone oxford blouses, body suits and leather jackets, and sneakers. For a little bit of a nicer day-to-night look, try pairing a red leather mini skirt with an untucked white, oxford shirt, adidas sambas, aviator sunglasses, and a small black leather purse. We are loving this cherry red color!

Adidas sambas

Every season, without fail, TikTok makes some shoe go viral. This spring, it’s the adidas sambas. Honestly, I get it. They’re simple, flat, low top sneakers, that have a clean look, making them super versatile and easy to pair with just about anything. Now don’t get me wrong, some of the color ways are just flat out ugly, but ones in more neutral colors can truly go with just about anything. Pair them with jeans and a t-shirt for an ultra-casual look, or pair them with high-waisted trousers and a button down for a nicer occasion. Personally, I think their classic grey, black, and white ones are the best

Low-waisted bottoms

Personally, this “in” is one I can not get behind. Don’t get me wrong, some girls look phenomenal in low waisted jeans and pants, however, they are not for everyone. Low-rise bottoms are definitely one of those trends that you should really consider your style and body type before following. If you are comfortable and confident in low-rise jeans, by all means this trend is for you! But, if you’ve tried it out, and you just don’t feel like yourself in them, then don’t worry and move on! I promise those jeans are not going to make or break your look. For those of you that love the idea, pair low-rise blue jeans with a full length fitted white t-shirt, a leather bomber jacket, adidas sambas, and some colorful aviators for an effortlessly cool girl look that’s casual enough for every day wear, but nice enough for a more planned event. These levi’s are a great option for achieving that low-rise look!

Now for the outs..

OUTs

Ankles

Hear me out, by “ankles” I mean cropped pants and capris are out in 2024. Full length jeans and pants have seriously taken over the fashion industry the past couple of seasons and I’M so excited. I’m not going to lie, I was a big cropped jeans girl in the past, but now that ‘I’ve tried full length jeans I have been converted. I don’t know how to explain it, and I don’t exactly know why, but they just look SO much better. I mean see for yourself,

I mean just look at the difference. Your legs look longer and it just looks *right*. The only time cropped jeans and pants are acceptable anymore is if they are wide-leg and paired with a heel or platform.

Huge, Mary-Poppins style purses

We all know exactly what I’m talking about. That huge bag your mom and grandmother used to carry that you would always think “what could you possible need that much room for?” yeah, they’re out. Recently, the purses have been getting mini-er and mini-er. Now, I’m not going to sit over here and say the only bag you need is one big enough to carry your ID, but seriously we don’t need to be carrying around huge, bottomless pits on our shoulders. The perfect bag is one that is big enough for your phone, wallet, keys, lip gloss, and maybe one or two other small things. Plus, with smaller bags they tend to be more affordable and get less cluttered, meaning you can have several options that are easier to change out with your outfits!

Clean Girl Aesthetic

Probably the most shocking out of 2024 is the clean girl aesthetic. For a trend and look that had just about every girl under the sun in a chokehold for the past two years, it is amazing to see the switch up this season. But my creative self is loving it. I love seeing everyone trying new things and expressing themselves more through fashion instead of trying to conform themselves to a style or look that they don’t naturally align with. We are definitely starting to see a rise in more maximalist creators on apps like TikTok and Instagram, and I think that is exactly what our generation needs to spark more inspiration and creativity in an industry that had been so dulled down the past few years.

Conclusion

As I said earlier, it doesn’t really matter what people, celebrities, companies say are in and out for 2024. What matters is that you are wearing what you feel the most comfortable and confident in. But ultimately, we are all a little curious about what the biggest trends are right now and about what the fastest dying styles are. If any of these ins or outs inspire you to switch up your style or try something new, then great! Whatever you wear I’m sure you will look fantastic. But, if you just really can’t give up your cropped jeans, then who cares! If you like the way you look, that’s all that matters. Stay true to yourself and see you next week!
