As we enter the month of March, Alabama Sports are starting to pick up with intensity. The Alabama Basketball team heading into March Madness as a #1 seed and the Alabama Baseball team starting to turn heads as they start with a 9-0 record, the best in the SEC West.

Alabama Basketball

As we head into March, Alabama is projected to be the #1 seed for March Madness after an Overtime win against Auburn on March 1st 90-85 at the Coliseum. It was Brandon Miller’s last SEC home game before the tournament and not only did he shine but Jahvon Quinerly put up a staggering 24 points and 6 rebounds. The atmosphere in Colman has never been more electric than Wednesday night’s game. This is a big win for Alabama before they head to College Station to face #24 Texas A&M this Saturday, March 4th. #24 Texas A&M is ranked 2nd in the SEC with a record of 14-3 (22-8 overall) losing to Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Arkansas all on the road and winning the majority of their games at home. Since this is an away game for Alabama, they’ve had some trouble in the past with teams on the road. In Tennessee, they lost by 9 where they played sloppy defense, turning over the ball 19 times. However, that is in the past. Alabama has been here before earlier this month when being a high-ranking team in a hostile away game environment. This team has matured since then and should be able to face the #24 Aggies in a hostile environment like College Station. It will be a tough game no doubt, however, I believe Alabama’s star power will be able to overshadow Texas A&M’s squad. This team is just too good.

As for March Madness, Alabama is projected +200 to make the final four with UCLA being right behind them at +300 odds. Alabama is also projected +900 to win the National Title with the third-best odds, with Kansas (+850) and Houston (+650) being right in front of them. Alabama just needs to play consistently and make sure their offense can match what they’ve been playing all season and pick up on their defense when it comes to teams like Tennessee which rely heavily on their defense. We have a lot of high hopes for this team, they’ve beaten Houston once before and have earned their right to be the top seed in Louisville. We’re not going to be able to project exactly how Alabama is going to win, but we have a good feeling that this year is for the history books for Alabama Basketball.

Alabama Softball

As March Madness goes on, NCAA Softball picks up. With Alabama currently ranked #13 with a record of 12-3. With Olympic pitcher Montana Fouts returning for her final year of eligibilty for the 2023 season. This team is definitely going to be the one to beat in the SEC as they are one of the best teams in recent history. Montana is already putting up career number as she through a complete game with a career tying 16 strikeouts and has won 7 of her 7 starts. The path to 1000 strikeouts for fouts is very well in reach as she’s very capable of doing so. They also have two of the best hitters in the league Ally Shipman and Ashley Prange returning for the season. Along with home run queen Bailey Dowling (10). However, there are some holes to be filled in their pitching staff with Lexi Kilfoyl transferring to Oklahoma State, another powerhouse in the Big 12 who’s currently ranked 3rd with a record of 13-1. We have a lot of hopes for this squad and a lot of confident in their offense. The main thing Alabama should focus on is staying consistent with their pitching through mid March when they start to face their SEC counterparts and face other good teams like Arkansas, Tennessee and Florida who are ranked in the top 10 currently.

Alabama Baseball

As the NCAA Baseball season is in full swing, Alabama has not shown any signs of slowing down. Currently sitting at 9-0 ranked #20 in the nation, this Alabama lineup may be something to overlook, but shouldn’t kid themselves when commenting negatively about this team. After a few weeks of play, Alabama has topped the standings outscoring their teams 79-21. With Andrew Pinckney leading the pack batting .485 and Luke Halmon starting the season with 2 wins and an ERA of 3.00. Now we understand its way too early to call this team good, especially when it comes to baseball. However, when you compare their stats to other teams like Ole Miss, LSU, and Florida, one needs to understand that this team is hungry for an NCAA Tournament entry. There are a lot of returning pieces as well as a lot new faces aiming to take this team to an NCAA Tournament berth. As they head into the middle of March, Alabama plays Florida which is an absolute offensive powerhouse with Wyatt Langford projected to have another career year with the Gators. Alabama needs to stay consistent with scoring runs as well as keeping their pitching in check.

All in all, it’s a very exciting time to be an Alabama sports fan as March approaches, with Basketball, Softball, and Baseball all having very good starts following very high hopes throughout their seasons.
