Now that the Bachelor has come to an end, we can finally discuss ALL of the looks from this season, or should I say lack there-of. I am going to start of by saying that truthfully, this season was a major let down from the fashion standpoint. That’s ok, nothing about being on the bachelor requires contestants to have exquisite taste or a personal stylist, but personally, I feel like overall the girls could have used a little help when it came to their outfits. Especially, there night one gowns.
Don’t get me wrong, everyone looked gorgeous, but from the public’s eye, we are used to seeing at least a handful of women who really know what they are doing when it comes to style, and unfortunately this season we did not get much of that.
I also want to start by saying, I am not a huge Maria fan. I didn’t love her, but I didn’t hate her either. I will be showing a lot of her looks today though. What can I say? The girl has some serious style compared to the other ladies this season.
Let’s start off with The Good…
- By far the best look of the entire season, in my opinion, was Maria’s night one gown! She really had such the perfect mix of looking sexy, elegant, and feminine without making her look too young. Overall, she looked womanly, she looked her age, and most of the women on night one didn’t. And that’s not necessarily a good thing
- Look number two is all of the women’s gowns for the rose ceremony that decided hometown dates. Again, all of the women here look their age. They still look young, beautiful, and elegant, but they look like women, not little girls, which is a good thing. I particularly love Maria and Kelsey’s gowns in this photo, they fit so well and really accentuate their figure’s. Daisy and Rachel look beautiful too. I think they chose colors that complement their skin tones extremely well!
- Next is Kelsey’s final rose gown. We all see it; she looks totally bridal and effortlessly gorgeous. This is the type of gown I wish we saw more of this season. Its bold and it’s glamorous, yet it can fit in with several different cocktail ceremony occasions and it doesn’t draw away from Kelsey’s natural beauty! Obviously, all of the girls wouldn’t wear white all of the time, but even something more along the lines of a true gown would have been better than many of their choices!
- Next are the Hometown Rose ceremony looks. I personally loved all of these except for Kelsey’s, sorry girl but its time for the exposed corset trend to die. Again, I think Daisy, Rachel, and Maria all picked gorgeous colors for their skin tone, and all of their gowns fit them beautifully. Daisy truly is a vision in red, and I think the powerhouse dress with the sleek hair was the perfect pairing for a sultry look. I think Rachel and Maria looked absolutely stunning this night. Both of their gowns just perfectly highlighted all of the things that make women beautiful, and truly just amplified their internal beauty too!
-Finally for the good, we have Maria’s one-on-one look in Montreal. I think this gown is what all of the women wanted their night one looks to be but failed in doing. It’s sparkly, its fun, its playful, and its young, but like I’ve already said a million times in this blog: it still makes Maria look like a woman. The glitz, glam, and bright color still add all of the youth without adding any juvenileness. Now, I know that a lot of Maria’s dresses cost a LOT of money, and I know that the contestants are responsible for their own clothing and cannot all afford to spend that much, however, I still feel like most, if not all of the ladies, could have achieved this same style on a budget.
Now let’s move on to the bad…
Honestly, there were not many “bad” looks this season. Now hear me out, by not many “bad” looks, I mean there were not many outfits that were just bad. I feel like for the most part, everyone’s outfits were either fantastic, fine, or just plain ugly, but never just bad. Truly I can only think of one night when the outfits were bad but not quite ugly level.
I do not know what happened with the ladies’ looks for this rose ceremony, but they were ALL bad, including Maria’s. Everyone’s gown is either ill fitting, an unflattering silhouette, washes them out, or is some combination of the three. What makes these looks bad instead of ugly is that when you look at the gowns by themselves, they are actually very pretty, unfortunately the women just chose the wrong ones for their figures and skin tones. For example, I think if Kelsey and Maria had swapped dresses, they would each look fantastic, but their choices just don’t suit them as well as the could. The only good dress in this photo is Daisy’s and let’s face it, it is WAY too much for the occasion. In my opinion, that is a night one gown, and it makes her stick out like a sore thumb when put up against all of the other women’s more simple, understated dresses for the evening. Do not get me wrong daisy is a beautiful girl and green complements her skin tone beautifully, however, that dress is wearing her, she is not wearing the dress.
Finally, the Ugly
As I said earlier, unfortunately I feel like we saw a lot of plain ugly looks this season. And again, I know that style is a skill and not every woman is a fashion guru, but you would think that at least 3-4 of the 32 women would know a thing or two about styling, or that the producers would at least help out a little bit. But apparently not, so let’s talk about it.
First off are ALL of the night one looks…
- Like I said earlier, Maria is excluded from this conversation. But quite literally, every other woman is not. This is another one of those situations where if you look at all of the gowns by themselves, they are quite beautiful. My main issue here, is that the dresses are all extremely young looking. All of the women in this photo are over the age of 24, yet their gowns are very much giving college formal, and dare I say, senior year prom. Now I know that 24 is not that far removed from college, however, I just think the solid color, full sequin, form fitting gowns are too immature and WAY to overdone in the prom industry for adult women to be wearing them. This is not to say that the sparkle is the bad thing, but there is just this noticeable difference that I can’t quite articulate. Take Daisy’s gown for example. While its simple, one color, and all over sparkle, the cut, train, and fit of the gown make it seem a little more womanly and a little more glamorous. Kelsey’s, on the other hand, is giving “I have a formal date party next week, so I picked this dress off ‘Hello Molly’”. Even though their two dresses are very similar, their feel is completely different.
- Overall, the night one gowns were just boring. No one stood out, there wasn’t any pizazz, and I feel like we saw a lot of women just wearing a dress, and not enough women curating a specific style for their national TV debut.
This dress is the perfect example of what I’m talking about. The color looks absolutely gorgeous on her, but this is not a night one bachelor dress. While this is technically an evening gown, it’s not like an EVENING gown. Do you get what I’m saying? This gown is very pageant, very prom, very high school. It’s not very “adult woman going to a formal event.”
THIS is adult woman going to a formal event. And it’s still green, sparkly, and youthful. I truly can’t explain what the difference is, but it’s there and its big
-Like I said earlier, overall, the night one gowns were boring and underwhelming. There was nothing special about them. And I am sorry, but I saw WAY too many lulu’s dresses. It’s hard to tell in this picture, but I have seen this exact dress on both Lulu’s and Amazon, and as I’ve said before, I know some of the women are on a budget, but for your night one gown, I think the ladies could have at least explored other budget friendly options.
- Finally, the shoes. WHY were they always wearing Target spring sandals with their formal dresses. I absolutely love both of Kelsey and Daisy’s looks in this photo, but the shoes absolutely ruined them. I know the ladies stand for hours on end during the rose ceremonies and that they can’t pack that much, etc. But I feel like this was never an issue in the past. I saw someone on TikTok say it’s because they didn’t want to be taller than Joey, and that is the only acceptable answer I can come up with.
