In most recent years, VR headsets have gotten so popular. First, to start off with what exactly VR is, it is short for virtual reality. This technology allows people to be fully immersed in a fake environment. This is typically through a headpiece hardware that can sense a person’s movements. This headset consists of a screen in a frame strapped to your head. There are a pair of lenses for your eyes. Blocking everything out in the world and making it seem like the headset is your entire world you are in. The headset also comes with a set of hand controllers that mimic your movements. Some VR headsets track more movements than others. In most scenarios, VR experiences will have a method for you to control everything in the simulated environment. The hand controllers show the virtual representations of your hands to manipulate the game making it feel like real life. Many people say that this reality creates a “tunnel vision” feeling. Another big component to this headset is motion sickness, I have only used this technology once, and I felt nauseous during it sometimes. Many other people have experienced discomfort, and motion sickness while wearing it. You could play the games sitting down or standing up experiences where movement in the game does not match your physical body movement. There is also some lingo in the VR world, as you become more experienced that means you are finding your “VR legs”. The price of VR headsets range from $100 to $450. Of course, you could find used ones on eBay or other websites. I heard they are very fragile, so it is best to best they new and not used.
Now I am going to go over the best games of all time to play on the Meta Guest 2. First starting off strong The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, people say it has some of the best design and user-interaction of all time. This game sets the bar high for zombie games in all concepts. The next game that is rated so high is Astro Bot Rescue Mission. This game kinda gives me Nintendo Mario Cart vibes and I love it. This game first launched on PSVR in 2016, another version has come out since and that’s the one that is so popular. There are 26 levels of Mario-quality platforming that await you. Another very popular game among VR players is Super hot VR. I haven’t played many games on the VR, but this one is definitely one of my most favorite games I have played so far. I feel like this game is super instantly rewarding game to play. This game brings your whole body into this world where there are multiple shooters, and they are trying to kill you. During this experience you are aware of every inch of your body, and it starts to feel effortlessly as you get better and better. You can catch handguns or ninja stars, the super hot VR is the gold standard. When I was playing this game I had fun, but I wasn’t that good at it. I could tell though the more I practiced, the better I became at it. I am going to keep trying to improve myself in this game and see how far I can go. It might be a little difficult to keep practicing because I do not own an oculus, but I might buy one. Another great game I recommend for you to play is Wipe out: The Omega Collection (PSVR). Ever since PSVR came out I have always thought a game like Wipe out would be a perfect platform. This game is a big race against other, and it feels like you are on a rocket ship people say. I haven’t played this game before, but I think I would enjoy this one. I am not a big fan of the bloody killing games. I would recommend this game to all ages. Moving onto a move simpler game to play I would recommend Eleven: Table Tennis (PC VR, Quest). This game is the most authentic representation of a sport in VR today. This is the simplest yet fun game, it is super addicting. I feel almost as tapping the ball with your controller feels so natural as if you were actually holding a paddle. The last game I am going to go over is Sabers VR. In this game you hit away all various colored obstacles coming towards you. The best part of this game is how satisfying and fun hitting each block is.
Overall I would highly suggest purchasing this headset, it has so much to offer. If you ever get the chance to play with one I recommend taking it! I feel like this technology is very advanced, and I am excited to see and play the next new Oculus that will come out. The prediction of the next new one, Quest 2 is October 2023. Well thanks for tuning in guys. Don’t forget to check out our twitch stream April 5th at 12:30 PM to watch me play the Oculus, and of course our socials! See you all later!
