Lets get to Turkey-ing
Now that we are moving into November it is time to get started on the Friendsgiving Festivities!
If your college is like mine, this year they are giving us the whole week off rather than just the W-F. As nice as that is, it means a lot more of your friend are going to be going home. So this year, it’s time to plan the Friendsgiving early.
Friendsgiving is the perfect excuse to bake something fun and get together with all your friends. It really feels like a big family gathering.
So, I’m here to give you all the tips to have the best Friendsgiving possible.
The Tips:
- Pick a Perfect Date and send out an invitation!
This one seems like a no brainer of course, but I’m talking a formal looking invitation. There are so many E-vite websites that can make the cutest Friendsgiving invitations.
Whether you print them, text them in a group chat, or email them over, I bet everyone will love receiving a cute invite
- Plan Your Menu and figure out what everyone is bringing!
Everyone knows that a great Friendsgiving dinner needs a great menu and great drinks. To take some of the stress of you as the host, set up the the menu so that people can sign up for what they want to bring. Or even better, make it a roulette or a draw of the hat so people must make something random.
Making it so everyone must bring something different makes for a very fun potluck Thanksgiving. Everyone can make what they’re best at, something they’ve ever made before, and it leads to there being more dishes for you and all your friends. Maybe even have them make their families traditional Thanksgiving side!
Here’s some drink recipes to give you some inspo for your Friendsgiving menu:
Fall Punch
– 1 gallon apple cider
– 1 bottle sparkling wine
– 2 bottles ginger beer
– 1 cup vodka
– 2-3 sliced apples
Pumpkin Pie Martini
– 1 cup ice
– 1 cup pumpkin pie cream liqueur
– 2 shots Vanilla flavored vodka
– Whipped cream on top
– 1 cinnamon stick for garnish
Thanksgiving Margarita Recipe
– 2 oz 100% apple cider
– 2 oz pear juice
– 1 ½ oz gold tequila
– 1 oz Grand Mariner or orange liqueur
– Salt for the glass
– Simple syrup or lime wedge (to adhere salt to glass)
– Cinnamon sticks for garnish
- Get your needed decor and dishes!
We know all about Halloween décor and Christmas décor but what is Thanksgiving décor really? Is it wrong to decorate your house with turkeys when that’s what you are supposed to be eating?
I normally go just for a straight smack to the face amount of fall décor. There is a great selection of just straight fall decor at TJ Maxx and Home Goods and Target no doubt has the best candles to make sure your place smells good.
Here’s some Friendsgiving table decor inspo:
- Pick a Dress code!
Now when I say dress code, I do not mean an elementary school uniform strictness level of dress code, but I always love to make sure everyone is matching vibes
Do you want everyone to have on big comfy sweaters? Are we having a Thanksgiving in sweats? Want everyone to dress up dress up just because?
This is the perfect opportunity to play around with it however you want. Whether you choose to play dress up or stay comfy, getting everyone to dress the same vibe makes for great pictures
- Plan activities!
Include fun activities in your Friendsgiving! Whether you friends are the drinking game crowd or the board game crowd, there are potential activities for everyone!
A friendly game of clue, a maybe not so friendly round of monopoly, bobbing for apples, or a great round of Thanksgiving charades – the options are endless to make sure that your Friendsgiving is about more than the food.
Go Forth and Plan
Friendsgiving is the best excuse to get all your friends into one room, eat good food, and have a great time. So, I hope you use these tips to plan yours this year!
Happy Planning!
