Share

With streaming becoming popular in this pandemic world, we would like to recommend some new releases from Netflix. From thrillers to drama, let us take you through 13 tv shows.

First a relatively new tv show is “Pieces of Her.” When a Saturday afternoon trip to the mall with her mother suddenly explodes into violence, an adrift young woman’s conception of her mother is forever changed. This tv show explores a mother’s dark past and how her daughter pieces together the lies told by her mother. With only one season so far, it has captivated audiences and keeps drawing people back for more. The only part of this show that some viewers don’t like is the fact that it is so detached that you can’t build an emotional connection to the characters.

Next highly popular TV series is “Riverdale.” “Riverdale” has started their sixth season with a bang, by taking audiences seven years into the future. The tv show starts off their first season with a group of friends trying to solve the murder of Jason Blossom. The first season hooked a lot of viewers and season two did not disappoint. With serial killers, gangs, and a mob boss the series truly does not disappoint. In the tv series we are also shown cults, brainwashing, and nightmarish games that turn real. Without getting too specific, it is a show that comes highly recommended.

If you are interested in crime and comedy, we recommend watching “Good Girls.” The TV show is about sisters Beth and Annie and their best friend Ruby become fed up with playing by the rules and not getting the respect they deserve, they band together to take control of their lives — by holding up a local grocery store. Beth’s the perfect wife and mother, but her used-car-dealing, cheating husband has sent her family into financial ruin; Ruby is happily married to a policeman but can’t afford the medical bills and experimental drugs to help her daughter; and Annie, a single mom, is caught in a nasty custody battle with her ex. In desperate need of money, the women plan the heist expecting to ease their financial burdens. But new to the game of crime, they get pulled in deeper than they ever imagined — and the only way out of this will be together. This TV series has 4 seasons and is perfect for binge watching.

This next TV series has become increasingly popular, “Bridgerton” started the series with a huge bang. Many parents stated that the age rating for the series was not appropriate. But with their second season coming out, it has been reported that the second season is expected to be somewhat less sexy. The series starts during the Regency era in England, eight close-knit siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family attempt to find love. Bridgerton season 1 was based on the first of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton books, The Duke and I, which followed Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest Bridgerton daughter, and her relationship with Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings. If you like to read instead of watch tv I recommend getting Julia Quinn’s first Bridgerton book, or even the series.

The Last Kingdom season 5 came out March 9th and has a 91% on rotten tomatoes. As a child, Uhtred witnessed his father being killed and his Saxon army defeated by invading troops aboard Danish ships. That day, Danish warlord Earl Ragnar captured him and raised him in a Danish camp alongside fellow captive Brida, a sharp-tongued girl. Years later, Uhtred is a valiant warrior who is dealt another tragic bow when his home is deliberately set on fire, killing his surrogate family, including his fatherlike figure Ragnar. Now exiled — alone except for Brida by his side — he vows to avenge Ragnar’s death and reclaim his homeland. But he must choose between his birth country and the people who raised him, walking a dangerous path between the two sides if he is going to help birth a new nation and ultimately recapture his ancestral land. Don’t miss out on this British tv series.

Animal is a new docu series that captures never-before-seen footage of the world’s most magnificent creatures, from the heartwarming to the outrageous. If you love to watch animals this is right up your lane.

Other shows that are new to Netflix that you should check out are Top Boy, Call the Midwife, Chip and Potato, Inventing Anna, Ozark, Worst Roommate Ever, and Murderville.
