For the past couple of decades, Call of Duty has been one of the most successful games in the history of gaming. Call of Duty is a first-person shooter video game franchise published by Activision. Starting out in 2003, it first focused on games set in World War II. Over time, the series has seen games set in the midst of the Cold War, futuristic worlds, and outer space. As of spring 2021, the franchise has sold over 400 million copies worldwide. With new games in the series released annually to blockbuster-level sales, the series is verified by the Guinness World Record as the best-selling first-person shooter game series.
This past week, COD released the latest installment of their franchise. This one is titled Call of Duty: Vanguard. Like so many of the past COD games, fans have been playing this game in the early hours of the morning. I have not heard a bad thing about the game so far but some gaming reviewers have become annoyed with how many games COD has made based on World War II. While everyone is still playing online, some players have thought the campaign did not live up to the hype. The campaign has kind of gone downhill over the last couple of games so that is not a surprise to me. One of the better things I heard about this game is that the zombies game mode is still really good. For that reason, I have chosen not to buy the game yet. I’m not going to buy a game for one game mode because I don’t really play online and if the campaign is bad then there is really no point.
