New Netflix Series that You Need to Watch Right Now

Have you just finished your favorite show of all time and you are looking for something new? You could just rewatch it from the beginning over and over again until you die OR you could try something new. Clay and I have handpicked 10 shows that you need to watch on Netflix right now. I have made sure to pick out shows from all different genres so I guarantee you will love at least one of these shows.

Ok, so, this isn’t your typical comedy, but if you liked The Office and Parks and Rec you’ll love this. Michael Schur is one of the best creative minds in the sit-com space right now, he has already proven himself by creating some of the best comedies of all time, so for this one he goes a little off the book. This hilarious show stars Kristen Bell right after she dies and is sent to the “Good Place.” This show is not only incredibly funny but also keeps your attention through a really interesting story. If you want to laugh your butt off while maybe learning a little something, check this out.

If you haven’t already heard of Avatar the Last Airbender, you must have been living under a rock. This is one of the best animated series ever created. It doesn’t matter who you are, you will find something to love in this show. If you are not someone who usually watches animated shows, I would heavily encourage you to just try it out. The world is super easy to understand and the animated medium allows for some incredible storytelling and beautiful shots. It is not an incredibly long series only spanning about 20 episode in each season. If you are looking for something different to watch, why don’t you join Aang on his journey around the world.

Ok, so I’ll admit this one isn’t for everyone and I know that isn’t a glowing endorsement, but hear me out. Before working on the hit success, Rick and Morty, Dan Harmon made a little show about a community college. This live action sitcom stars a study group as they do everything except study. This show is weird, like…really weird, but going into each episode you never know what you are going to get. That is what makes it so exciting. The first season struggles to get its wings, so if you want an episode to get hooked on, I would suggest episode 23, Modern Warfare. This episode encapsulates everything that makes the show great.

Are you tired of feeling happy and laughing at all the other shows above, you might want something a little grittier that you can really get invested in. Breaking Bad and it’s prequel Better Call Saul are the most captivating shows ever created. You will not be able to watch just one episode because the cliff hangers are just that good. Watching this as it came out was a nightmare. Not knowing what was going to happen to the characters was nerve racking. Let me warn you before you start this show, it is dark, especially the first season, but if you want to watch one of the best series of the decade watch Breaking Bad and then Better Call Saul.

I’ll be honest because this is a combined list: I have not watched all the shows on this list, but if you want the complete opposite of Better Call Saul, watch Bee and PuppyCat. It is a show about a weird puppy/cat hybrid that falls on a freshly unemployed girl named Bee. The whole series centers on them doing odd jobs (emphasis on the odd) to pay for each month’s rent. The main appeal is the art style. The show is really cute and charming, each frame of animation is packed to the brim with bright colors and interesting designs that are a delight to the eyes. After watching the first few episodes I can tell there is something more going on underneath the surface. Each episode gives you one more piece of a sprawling story. If you want something you have never seen before, try out Bee and PuppyCat.

I know I said if you haven’t watched Avatar you are living under a rock, but come on, it’s Stranger Things. Everyone and their mother knows about Stranger Things. It’s everywhere you look. If for some reason you haven’t seen it, stop whatever you are doing and get to it. Most people think that the first season is the best, but I really liked this latest one. This show is filled with the good 80’s nostalgia that just makes you smile. If you want something to talk about at your new job or with someone you just met, watch Stranger Things.

This show is amazing, some of the best television I have seen in a long time. I know this may surprise you but The HAUNTING of Hill House is a horror show that made me jump more than a few times. I think the best way to watch this show is to get a few friends together, and over three or four nights, watch this show with the lights off and bladders empty. If you want to have some real fun, do what I did. I was running late, so my friends started without me, I turned off my lights as I pulled into the driveway, hopped the fence, and banged on the window right behind them. I have never seen anyone jump so high. If you want to have memories that will last you a lifetime watch Haunting of Hill House with some friends.

Another really weird show, but hey, I’m trying to get stuff that you haven’t seen before. When someone first recommended this show to me, it was completely off-putting. When you are just looking at it, it’s a fully Korean TV show that has one of the worst titles I have ever heard. Putting all that aside, I watched the first episode and let me tell you I was hooked. Let me just give you the premise for the first episode and see if it interests you. They send a two-year-old to the store to buy three things for dinner and use hidden cameras, actors in disguise, and drones to help monitor and film them. I have never rooted more for someone’s success in my entire life. There is one point where he forgets the curry and I honestly sighed a sigh of relief when he remembers and went back. The episodes are really short and super fun to watch.

Do you like anime? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Even more than Old Enough, I was honestly not looking forward to watching this for this list. I put the first episode on in the background while I was studying so I could at least say that I watched it, but by the end of the episode it had my complete attention. I ended up watching three episodes before realizing that I was supposed to be studying. If you can get over the weirdness of an animated drama, you will find something that legit broke my heart in just the first few episodes. I have not actually finished it yet, so it could really biff the ending but all the reviews are extremely positive from both professional critics and friends who have watched it.

This one is definitely a personal choice and I understand that a vast majority of people will probably not enjoy it, but that’s why it is at the bottom of the list. I really enjoy interviews especially when someone is as good as David Letterman. This man has been talking to people professionally for more than 30 years, and it shows in every aspect of this show. If you want to know how to be a good conversationalist, watch this show. The way he connects with the guest immediately is really interesting to watch. Find an episode with someone you want to get to know better and try it out.

It there a show that we need to include on our list, let us know.
