Share

Have you ever wondered what reality TV show you would be based on your college major? Look no further…

The Bachelor/Bachelorette– Marketing/Communications

Storytelling, personal branding and knowing exactly what the audience is going to love.  This is basically what PR and marketing professionals do, except with fewer roses and more analytics.

Group project: Feels like Hell’s Kitchen but it’s all about who can have the best idea aka the final rose.

Survivor– Business/Poli-Sci

Focusing on leadership and risk assessment. This show is all about strategy, alliances, and outmaneuvering competitors, just like the corporate and political worlds. Business majors would thrive in the game of negotiation, while Poli-Sci students would be working behind the scenes to manipulate votes and keep their power.

Hardest classes: The one where only one person gets an A.

Big Brother – Psychology/Criminal Justice

This show is all about manipulation, deceit, and reading people, making it a prime study ground for psych majors. But let’s not forget criminal justice students, who would analyze the game’s surveillance, social contracts, and ethics.

Homework: The Science behind First Impressions.

Selling Sunset – Real Estate Development

It is a mixture of knowing how to close a good deal and picking the most luxurious properties on Zillow. Between closing deals, stirring up drama, and flexing designer outfits, the Oppenheim Group is a masterclass in high-stakes sales and personal branding—perfect for anyone looking to dominate the luxury business world.

Midterm project: Buy and sell Barbie’s dream house.

Below Deck– Hospitality Management

Loving the aesthetic of a boat ride while being able to work hard, and play hard. At the end of the day, Below Deck is an internship in high-end hospitality, just with more seasickness, crew hookups, and the occasional broken glass of Dom Pérignon.

Study Abroad: Semester at Sea but make it only conflict resolution classes.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians – Communications

Gossiping with a side of schoolwork while also mastering the most popular social media platforms. If there’s one thing the Kardashians do better than anyone, it’s marketing. From viral moments (Kim, there’s people that are dying) to product drops that sell out in minutes, they’ve turned their names into household brands.

Extra Credit Opportunity: Tell a story when something went wrong and you told it to one of your ten sisters.

Dr. Pimple Popper – Nursing

Having good bedside manners and a strong stomach…Dr. Pimple Popper is about more than satisfying pops, it’s a great example of how nurses and medical professionals provide the best care with skill.

Final Exam: Act out your favorite scene from Grey’s Anatomy while “How to Save A Life” by The Fray plays in the background.

Project Runway– Fashion Design

Working on a tight budget while being creative. Project Runway is like a fashion school on steroids. From garment structure to bringing their visions to life, this show isn’t just about sewing, but creativity, branding, and selling a vision

Final Project: A runway show that decides if you secure a job at Vogue Magazine.

The Voice Or American Idol – Music/Performance Art

Days spent performing, hitting the high notes, and hoping you don’t get roasted by your friends. The Voice is a master class in singing, performing, and branding as contestants put their skills to the test to put on a show-stopping performance.

Capstone Project: Creating a song on Tiktok that goes viral

Chopped – Food science

The ultimate test of speed and creativity, a dream for any culinary student. At the end of the day, Chopped is about much more than making a meal, it’s about putting your creativity and skill to the test when under high-pressure stakes.

Final Project: Design a full menu based on the mystery ingredient in each student’s basket.
