Reality Wrap-Up: Bachelor Season 28 Ep. 4 Pt. 1

Ladies and gentlemen, it is the week we’ve all been waiting for ….and that of course is the infamous two-on-one date the show has been teasing us with for weeks. The drama is starting to heat up, and the girls are already causing unnecessary (but entertaining) drama. Before we get into the thick of it, let’s start to recap from the top of the episode.

It’s another beautiful morning waking up in the Bachelor Mansion where everyone is honestly over Sydney and Maria’s B.S. (and by this I mean everyone is over Sydney). The contestants are all brought together and told that they are headed for the international part of their journey! I guess now that they finally have a cute and perfect Bachelor they have done away with random US cities?? The girls are headed to MALTA!! Autumn asks the producers in her interview if Malta is in Europe… and tbh I was also wondering the same thing.

Our perfect Bachelor Joey is so excited to be in Malta because of the historical and fun elements the city has to offer. He is really taking this whole Bachelor role seriously as he has made some great connections with many of these women. This man has no red flags… except I found out he was Pike’s president (woah okay.. I’ll classify this as yellow). Even when he said, “If I’m gonna bring someone to the altah, we gotta hang out in Malta,” I didn’t even get an ick.

The first date card arrives and Lexi gets it!! FINALLY!! I know we’ve all been anticipating seeing these two get some one-on-one time. They start in Valletta and begin touring the city. They try some local foods and the chef asks them if they are married. When I saw this interaction on my TV screen, I immediately wondered how much the producers paid that lady to ask that. Joey and Lexi say “Not yet,” and she says “Ooooh so you are lovers?!”

Later in the night, the couple goes to a church. A priest comes in and begins telling them that a family needs children and children bring happiness. This spearheads them into their dinner portion of their date where Lexi plans on discussing her health with Joey and if she is able to have kids of her own.

I immediately begin to kick my feet and giggle when I see Joey has on the SALMON SUIT!! If you don’t remember this suit on Dylan B and Tyler C then you are a fake fan…. They sit down and begin to dive into a deeper conversation. Lexi tells Joey that she was super sick for over a year. She eventually found out that she has stage 5 endometriosis. She explains to him that she will not be able to carry or give birth to any children. Lexi tells Joey that her last boyfriend ended the relationship with her because she wouldn’t be able to give birth to his children. AND ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THAT I WANT TO PERSONALLY BEAT UP THAT BOY (EMPHASIS ON BOY… NOT MAN).

Joey, being the perfect MAN he is, tells Lexi that he appreciates she wants to share that with him, and he can see a motherly instinct in her that he loves. He goes on to say that there are other ways for them to have a family and that this doesn’t scare him or make him want to run away (queue the tears). Lexi of course gets the date rose.

The next day there is a group date consisting of Jenn, Daisy, Edwina, Katelyn, Allison, Rachel, Autumn, Kelsey T., Jess, Madina, Lea, and Kelsey A. It is at Fort Manoel, where they filmed Game of Thrones. I’m not going to go into detail about this date, mainly because I had my eyes halfway covered watching them try to catch sausage in their mouth that is tied to a spinning wheel. Autumn wins the extra time with Joey, and they end up having their first kiss.

The night portion of the group date is the same as usual. The highlights were Daisy and Joey talking about their future kids’ names and Kelsey T. asking Joey what he needs for their relationship to continue to grow. Kelsey T. gets the group date rose.

FINALLY…. We can talk about Sydney and Maria. Lowkey in my opinion it’s too early to have one of these types of dates but I’m ready to get one of them out of the house. Maria dressed to impress, but Sydney wore what we would describe as Amazon dad sandals. Also, in what world would Sydney ever stay over Maria like COME ON PEOPLE?

Sydney says she has a plan going into this date which scares everyone watching. Meanwhile, Maria is just trying to make small talk and does not want to jump off the boat they are on. Joey leads the two girls to a bench and tells them that he wants to get to the bottom of the drama. Sydney goes first and starts blasting poor Maria. She says that Maria is disrespectful to everyone and told Lea to “shut the f**k up.” As I’m sitting here writing this, I also agree that Lea should shut up. She goes on to say that Maria is not the type of person Joey needs to be with.

Joey goes to talk to Maria about everything, and Maria says she did not say that to Lea and Sydney lied. Maria asks Joey if this is something he’s willing to look past, and he says he is willing to try. The girls end up being together again and Maria hits Sydney with the comment that they are on camera all the time.

The miserable date gets drawn out to an evening portion, and everyone is begging for Sydney to just go HOME. In the end, Maria gets the rose, and as Sydney gets sent out she said Maria sucks.

Joey and Maria then are standing with an opera singer who sings “Ave Maria.” Thank God he kept Maria, but that would’ve been very awkward for Sydney to hear Maria’s name be sung.

Just when you think that must be the last of the drama for the episode, think again! They are at the cocktail party all hanging out, and all of a sudden, Lea is so mad that no one is sad that Sydney is gone. Lea takes Madina aside to talk about the situation, and it’s honestly embarrassing for Lea. Why is Lea who is in her early twenties arguing with Madina who is a mature 30-year-old woman??

Maria asks Madina what is going on and Madina explains that people are mad at her for being nice to Maria. This causes poor Maria to spiral. She freaks out and threatens to leave the show, and then Lea calls her a drama queen. Lea talks to Joey about how Maria is treating everyone.

Whew! This episode was a doozy… and it’s ONLY Part One.

Reality Wrap-Up: Bachelor Season 28 Ep. 4 Pt. 2

Since ABC offered us a back-to-back two-night special this week, let’s talk about night two! Obviously, they ended the first night’s episode with the Maria drama. We all were left wondering what could possibly happen next. Even though Maria had a breakdown about the whole situation our queen stayed strong and decided to stay and continue her journey! Rightfully so! She would be mistaking herself if she gave up on her and Joey.

We begin the episode with an intense rose ceremony and unfortunately send home contestants Edwina Dorbor and Allison Hollinger. Even though Joey sent two girls home it brings us that much closer to him finding the love of his life!! (Still heartbroken it will never be me)

We then see Kelsey Anderson receive the one on one date of the week! This one consisted of the two trying new food and activities around the city of Malta. She opened up to Joey about the passing of her mother during the nighttime portion of the date (he wiped her tears away like the King he is). She then proceeded to claim that she had not quite started to fall in love, but was beginning to trip (okay?). After opening up about her mother, Kelsey receives a rose from Joey (to which she then proceeds to say she was falling in love?).

Now it’s time for the group date! The girls all got to show off their creativity in a little art competition. Jess ultimately won the group date competition for her painting of a diamond ring (Joey really liked that she was the only one who said anything about getting engaged at the end of this…because duh that’s the only goal). The two then proceed to sneak away from the group for some one-on-one time, and roll around in swimsuits and paint on a very large canvas. It was slightly uncomfortable to watch, not going to lie.

Now just when we all thought Maria hadn’t been seen in a bit, she steals Joey’s attention during the night portion of the group date when she opens up about her relationship with her mother. She said she and her mom were not close, BUT I’ve been hearing rumors that her mom used to drive her all over to stalk One Direction?? Riddle me that one please! This ultimately leaves her with the group date rose, and Jess and Lea with their jaws on the floor.

Up next we have Rachel’s one on one! Finally! We can gather two things from this date: Rachel was born to dance, and Joey appears to be born with two left feet. We find out that Rachel is an ICU nurse (literal queen), and because of this, she often takes things slow with relationships, and she lets Joey know she’s appreciative for letting her be a slow burn. So, duh, Rachel gets a rose!

Fast forward to the rose ceremony. Lea, who has not recently had any time with Joey, is not worried at all, but Jess is freaking out. This only escalates when Maria steals Joey away from Katelyn. Jess freaks out and starts even more drama by confronting Maria and calling her disrespectful for talking to Joey when she already has a rose (ummmmm babe where was this attitude when you stole him TWICE on night one??) Anyways, a full on cat fight emerges once again.

Unfortunately, Joey still doesn’t sense the crazy (who are we kidding he probably does but production is really calling the shots) and sends home Madina Alam and Autumn Waggoner. Now we are getting down to the wire, so Joey is gonna have to start sniffing out the crazy and sending some girls home. But, alas, we have at least one more week of team “I Hate Maria” still around.

See you all next week for another recap and some more drama!
