Students’ escape plans from a bad date

TwitchTalks was live this week again with more exciting topics for students at UA. The question posed to students this week was, “If you were on a date and you do NOT like your date, what would be your ultimate escape plan?” As always, we got some hilarious responses.

The first response was, “Have a family member stage a phone call saying my mom is in the hospital. It’s a free out AND they never want to tag along because that’s weird.” Whoever submitted this has got this strategy down. They have used this one a few times.

The responses submitted were either pleasant ways or very ruthless ways. Like these two, “Be nice have fun and go home,” and “Just tell her I don’t like her and leave.” Another two showing the separation between them is “Say I feel sick when we get back to the house and hopes she leaves,” and “Say I am going to the bathroom and leave through the back door.”

Some responses just did not care how their date would feel and it was apparent. “Leave, get up, and leave.” This would be just cruel. Or like this one, “Either straight up leave or make up a bad story so I can leave.”

“Saying my dog swallowed a pot brownie.” This one must work. Who wouldn’t be worried about the dog? They might want to see the dog too though so this one has a chance to backfire if you aren’t careful.

In some of the responses we received, you could tell some of these have been planned for a while. Like, “Send a double emoji text to your group chat so your friends call you and make up some emergency that you need to leave for.” This person and their friends have codes for this? You know they are prepared for this situation. Also, these are some true friends you have if they are willing to always do this for you. Or “Call a new boy and tell him to make a scene while I sneak out of the kitchen unnoticed.”

Another great one shared with us was, “One of my friends called me telling me to go park at the hospital and wait. She then got her date to take her to the hospital saying her friend fell at the bar and split her head open. Once he dropped her off, she went into the hospital. As soon as her date pulled off, she came out to my car in the parking lot.” Just great planning and execution on her part.

Like the last, many included having people fake emergencies to get out of it. “Fake an emergency,” “Probably text one of my friends to call me right now and make up an excuse,” and “Have my friends call me and say there’s an emergency,” just to quote a few. Some of these took that emergency to extreme measures, however. “Fake a diabetic seizure,” someone said. Interesting. Probably not the easiest choice, but I’m sure it could be effective. “Fake a call and run away,” one says. I would love to hear the fake emergencies on these. “Would have one of my friends call me with a fake emergency.”

Do you know what your escape plan would be or have a better one than these? Let us know on our post on Instagram at UATwitch!
