T-town, Alabama Fall Fun with Friends

On my way! to get a PSL

Whether it’s by putting up your dorm Halloween decorations weeks too early or googling the nearest pumpkin patch in Tuscaloosa, I think we can all agree that we are itching for fall to start.

It is finally officially Autumn now that were past September 22nd, and the weather is only going to continue to get better as we get into October. Although a few hot days may still be mixed in, our daily weather high is getting lower and lower. So, take out your sweaters, ditch the ice in your coffee, and put up that pumpkin wreath – its finally FALL TIME.

However, with the start of fall, we are now running out of things to do. Soon, it’ll be too cold to sit at the pool with friends, be out grilling, and you’ll have to pull out the jeans for the tailgate. Despite the weather being better, there is less to do.

Like seriously, I can only walk Tuscaloosa Riverwalk and go to the farmers market so many times…

But don’t fret, I am here to tell you about all the fun fall activities you can do with your friends right here in Tuscaloosa (& some Bham).

  • Tuscaloosa Barnyard!!

34 min away still in Tuscaloosa County with a $12 admission is Tuscaloosa Barnyard. The barnyard is a petting zoo with everything from goats to ducks. You get to pet them, go on tractor rides, and they even have a pumpkin patch in October

They are open on Friday from 1-6pm and Sat/Sun from 10am-6pm!

  • Haunted Tours!!

This tour is $25 per adult 13+, a 1.5 hour tour, and starts at the Drish House.

Now if you haven’t heard of the Drish House, its known to be one of the most haunted places in all of Alabama.

An old Alabama plantation house with hundreds of years of history is bound to be haunted; and nothing gets me in the mood for Halloween more than a good ‘ol ghost.

As someone who self-proclaimed to be able to feel energy around me, this is something that is right up my alley. Just be sure nothing follows you home!

  • Buy all of the Pumpkin flavored things at Trader Joe’s!!

Gas prices have been on the decline so that 50 min drive to Birmingham is less and less scary to your wallet. However, the amount you take home from Trader Joe’s might end up being what’s scariest to your wallet.

I am a big sucker for Trader Joes as I grew up near one, but the closest one to our dear T-Town is in Birmingham. Although driving an hour for a grocery store seems ridiculous, doing it once is totally worth it. Plus, you can come home with some beautiful flowers!

  • Griffin Farms!!

40 min away in Bibb County with a $10 admission is Griffin Farms. This farm has everything from a zipline, to a pumpkin patch, to a corn maze. Does it get more stereotypically fall than that?

With a low admission cost, and not too long of a drive, I’d say this is totally worth it. Definitely THE spot for cute pics with your friends

They are open Sat/Sun 10am-6pm!

  • The Horror Tuscaloosa!!

At $25 per adult, $40 fast pass, $5 parking per car and located in Cottondale on Skyland Boulevard is The Horror Tuscaloosa. This haunted house experience will give you quite the fright! With two different haunted houses, each with a different theme, this is a great way to get you in the Halloween mood this October.

Some of my favorite fall memories was going to Haunted Houses like these with all my friends. Nothing like getting scared and digging your nails into the arm of your best friend! Might have to check this one out.
