The Loyola Project is a documentary highlighting the historic 1963 Loyola Ramblers. The Loyola Project debuts on Wednesday, February 16th at 3:00 PM. The premiere will take place at the Camellia Room in Gorgas Library. This documentary tells the phenomenal story of their historic and memorable 1963 basketball season. Patrick Creadon is the director of this noteworthy documentary. His partner Christine O’Malley produced the documentary through their film company, O’Malley Creadon Productions. Patrick leads viewers through Lucas Williamson, current Loyola basketball team member as well as co-captain. The documentary is illustrated through modern-day interviews as well as chronicled footage.
In honor of Black History Month, this documentary takes place in the height of the Civil Rights movement. This story will highlight the Loyola Ramblers as their basketball team broke down racial barriers and made an impact on basketball forever. “Words like diversity, equity and inclusion were not part of the dialogue in 1963 – my hope is that audiences in 2022 who do prioritize those values will recognize the role the Ramblers played in getting us to the present-day conversation.” said Director Patrick Creadon.
The film is being premiered on more than 70 college campuses with hope of sparking conversations in the communities. Learn more about the documentary at https://www.theloyolaproject.com/
