This has been without a doubt one of the most interesting seasons in NFL history. This is mostly because of all of the unexpected things that have happened. Teams that should not be good having only one loss, and teams that looked like Super Bowl favorites who are now at the bottom of their division. In fact, there are many teams who have underperformed this year, so lets go over the most disappointing of them.
5. Cincinnati Bengals
While the Cincinnati Bengals have started to look a little better as of late, this has clearly been a very disappointing start to the season, especially when you take into consideration that they were supposed to be after that Super Bowl berth last season. While Joe Burrow has been able to do his part in righting the ship, the rest of the offense has not been able to really get going at all this year. However, there is still plenty of time for the Bengals to return to the top of their division this season.
4. New Orleans Saints
While no one came into this season expecting the New Orleans Saints to raise the Lombardi trophy in February, it is safe to say people also did not expect for the Saints to be as bad as they have been. What many people thought would be one of the best defenses in the league has looked extremely weak and their quarterback situation is atrocious. It no longer seems as though the New Orleans Saints are just a quarterback away and now seems more likely than ever that a full rebuild will be necessary for them to get back on track.
3. Las Vegas Raiders
This team makes absolutely zero sense. They have a quarterback in Derek Carr who looked to be ready to have a career year, a brand new elite wide receiver in Davante Adams, and Josh Jacobs who has emerged as one of the best running backs in the league this season, yet this team just cannot win games. They have been in position to win just about every game that they have played this season but have just not been able to get it done when it matters the most.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay looked like a favorite to win it all coming into this season. However, a lot of off the field drama with quarterback Tom Brady and some bad play from the rest of the Buccaneers has made them look like an easy first round exit in this year’s playoff. They most likely will still make the playoff because of how weak the rest of their division is but that absolutely does not excuse just how bad they have been all season long.
1. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos have been one of the hardest teams to watch in the NFL this season. I think that is mainly because of how much potential they have that has not been realized. This is due to their incredibly disappointing quarterback play from Russell Wilson. Many thought at the beginning of the season that Russell would be an MVP favorite and instead he has Bronco fans asking for Drew Lock to come back. If they aren’t careful, Bronco’s country may ride themselves right into another rebuild.
