This college football season has been full of incredible games. From upsets to overtime games, to last second scores, this season has had it all. What makes all of it even better is that we still have 4 weeks left in the regular season to see even more of these incredible showings. But with that being said, let’s take a look at the top ten games of the college football season so far.

10. USC vs. Utah

This year, it seems as though most of the high scoring games have been the best, and that is absolutely no different here. USC vs. Utah saw Caleb Williams and Cameron Rising have one of the best quarterback duels of the season putting up score after score for each of their teams. Plus this game came down to one final play, which was the 2pt conversion that was ran in by Cam Rising to help Utah win 43 to 42.

9. Texas A&M vs. Alabama

This is the first of a few Alabama games on this list. The Texas A&M game was supposed to be the biggest game coming into this season of college football. But due to an uncharacteristically poor start to the season for Texas A&M the game definitely lost the level of hype that it initially had. However, this game ended up being one of the best of the season so far because Texas A&M was able to keep it close with Alabama and even had a chance to win on the last play of the game. But with the poor play calling on the final play Alabama was able to hang on to this one with a final score of 24 to 20.

8. Penn St. vs. Purdue

While this year’s week 1 late of games was definitely not as impressive as some years in the past, it did give us this gem of a game. Through the first half of this one, it looked as though Penn St. was going to run away with it. Then, Purdue came storming back in the third quarter, but their effort was for nothing because Penn St. scored a late go-ahead touchdown that led to them winning woth a final score of 35-31.

7.  Florida St. vs. LSU

Even though it seems like most people have forgotten this game from early this season, it still does not change the fact that it was one of the best games all year long. There were multiple lead swaps throughout this game and what seemed to be a clutch game tying drive by LSU in the final seconds. That is of course until Florida St. blocked LSU’s extra point that would have sent the game to overtime, meaning that Florida St. hung on to win this one 24 to 23.

6. Tennessee vs. Pittsburg

Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh was one of those games where it seems like neither team has any kind of advantage at any point during the game. And this was evident by the fact that it took the now number 1 team in the country, Tennessee, till overtime to be able to defeat Pittsburgh. This game seemed to destroy any hope that Pitt had and started Tennessee’s reemergence to relevancy. The final score was 34 to 27.

5. Florida vs. Utah

This game is one of the first true upsets on the list. Utah came into the game against Florida with hopes to make it into the college football playoff, however these were quickly snuffed out and Utah was shown just how hard it is to play in an SEC stadium. Even though Florida has had a mediocre season this year, they are able to take pride in the fact that they eliminated a possible playoff team from contention in the first week of the season, with a final score of 29 to 26.

4. Oklahoma St. vs. TCU

This game was without a doubt the start of TCU’s rise to a playoff contender this season. Oklahoma St. was widely regarded as the favorite to win the Big 12, but TCU, led by Max Duggan, was able to make this game a shootout. Regulation was not enough to decide this one as TCU finally defeated Oklahoma St. in 2nd overtime with a final score of 43 to 40.

3. Alabama vs. Texas

Alabama vs. Texas lived up to the hype, plain and simple. This game had it all, strong defensive performances, amazing moments from both teams’ offenses, and of course some clutch kicking. Alabama was able to defeat Texas with a score of 20 to 19 after an incredible game winning drive led by Bryce Young, which led to Will Reichard making the go-ahead field goal. Something should also be said about how well Quinn Ewers performed before he had to exit the game with a shoulder injury, and without that injury who knows what the final score of this game would have been.

2. Clemson vs. Wake Forest

This is by far the most underrated game this season and would easily be number 1 if it was not for another game that happened not too long ago. Clemson had an early lead in this game but Wake Forest showed a level of resiliency that many did not know they were capable of and were able to get the game to overtime. And while Clemson was able to win it in 2nd overtime the performance by Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman was a thing of beauty. The best way to describe this game is that it is just one that you hate to see end.

1. Alabama vs. Tennessee

As much as it may pain me to say this, the Alabama vs. Tennessee game has been easily the best game of the season so far. Early on, it looked as though Tennessee may blow out the Crimson Tide, but then Alabama stormed back behind a noteworthy performance from Bryce Young. But the poor play calling, the penalties, and the incredible performances from both Hendon Hooker and Jalin Hyatt proved to be too much for the Crimson Tide to handle as they went on to lose on a last second field goal. The final score was 52 to 49.
