With Spring break right around the corner, you have to start preparing for everything. Preparing for the best all the way to the worst. The traveling portion of the trip is always the part that is most dreaded, whether your travel duration is 3 hours or 10 hours it always feels like a lifetime. I am going to go over some ideas for your travel time in the car, or on the flight, or just any entertainment in general because we all need something to keep up busy sometimes. I feel like the majority of people typically travel outside their state when they go on spring breaks, so that means you’re going to need something to do. This spring break I am flying into Cancun so here are something’s I have prepared for my travel day. First I bought some new books. I went to Barns and Noble and took my time grazing the aisles. Two summers ago was when I first picked up a book because I wanted to read it instead of being forced by school, and now I can’t put a book down. I highly recommend trying to get into reading, the time passes so fast, and it is the best feeling when you find a book you really love. I also downloaded some long movies. This is the perfect time to catch up on long movies. I downloaded Hunger Games and Lord of the Rings. Getting snacks before a long car ride or at the airport is also crucial. You need something to snack on during the movie or TV show you are watching. My favorite snack to eat while traveling is salt and vinegar chips, you can’t beat it. Another thing I’ve recently been doing is bringing a deck of cards anywhere I go. This has really come in handy, you can play a great game of cards on the plane or in the car with your friends or family. Some of my favorite card games are Solitaire and Rummy. You can also bring mini travel-sized games. You could bring Chess, snakes and ladders and Draughts. Growing up my brothers and I would always play with many travel-sized games during car rides or long flights. Still to this day we play with cards often as well. For younger kids it’s a great idea to buy them a coloring book or even older kids just to sketch, coloring is fun.
Then of course one of my top favorite things to do is the classic listening to music. Whenever it’s winding down to the last hour of my flight or the car ride I often find myself not in the mood to do as much and this is when I turn on some of my favorite music. I also download whole playlist before my traveling. I know that on Apple Music you could download the whole playlist, and they also have a car ride playlist and a plane ride playlist which is great. I venture out and try to listen to new music and new genres because I might find something new that I like that I didn’t know about before. it also wakes me up and gets me excited about the destination that I’m arriving to. Something else that I recently had been getting into is listening to a podcast or an audiobook. I know I stated earlier that reading a book is great, but I feel like also audiobooks are perfect for those who don’t particularly love reading or find that they get too tired from doing so then I think podcasts are great for learning and engaging with topics that interest you. A great place to find book inspiration for audiobooks is audible. One audiobook that is really popular right now is Elon Musk: Unabridged. Another idea during your travel day is doing a crossword and a word search. These are two very traditional things to do on a long flight, but they are effective because they keep your mind working and active. Another idea is to read up on your adventure, I feel like you can never do enough research. You can plan more of your trip and maybe make some last-minute reservations if needed. You would rather be safe than sorry when traveling possibly somewhere new. Another one of my favorite activities to pass time is to have a few drinks. A good drink especially with company is the best. On most long-haul carriers some alcohol is complimentary, you have to look out for it. Just remember that alcohol affects you quicker at higher altitudes, it will dehydrate you quicker so make sure you drink water in between each drink. A long flight or car ride is also a great time to catch up on some sleep. The seats typically aren’t the comfiest, but I bet you’ll be able to sleep for at least a little. Last but not least you can play iPad and Tablet Games. Some of those include Among Us, Minecraft, Temple Run, Angry Birds, and Candy Crush. I hope you all took something from this blog.
Good luck and have so much fun on your spring break and travel safely! Don’t forget to tune into our live stream Wednesday, March 22nd. See y’all then!Â
