Welcome back to everything Reality TV! With The Bachelor ending and Joey finding true love… WHATEVER ARE WE GOING TO DO ON OUR MONDAY NIGHTS?! Well, we have some good news for you…..
While we have tackled The Bachelor franchise in the last couple weeks – this week we take a turn and dive into Bravo TV! Specifically, we’re going to be recapping and focusing on a new show by Lisa Vanderpump called Vanderpump Villa.
It’s a show about bartenders, servers, and maids working to impress their guests! It’s a mixture of Vanderpump Rules and Below Deck. What could be better? Even though Vanderpump Rules is still airing and filming there has been a bit of a decrease in audience engagement due to how “slow” things are moving. With Scandoval taking off and causing much animosity last season- this season hasn’t taken off as much as the last….
NO WORRIES THOUGH! Mrs. Vanderpump knew EXACTLY what we needed. And that’s a new reality tv show under HER conditions. It just makes reality tv that much more entertaining!
The cast hosts different families each week at the villa and we’re able to see the behind the scenes of fine dining and reality drama.. Although Lisa Vanderpump is expecting them to be on their A game … some of them fall short and start the season on not the best foot..
Although Bravo only gave us the first three episodes on Hulu it was just enough drama and chaos to real us all in for more!
The season begins with the first episode introducing and covering all of the new cast mates. First things first, Lisa Vanderpump sits down and chats about her fellow employees. She states that although they can be messy- they are also great workers. The group is filled with friendships, relationships, and enemies which makes the work environment seem a bit hostile … .The main server Hannah Fouch ultimately asserts her dominance within the first episode and makes her employees aware to never cross her. You can think of Hannah Fouch as the “IT, Mean girl” or some might even say the “new stassi shrewder” While she’s charming and hardworking- she has a dark side that arises when tempted…
We also met Bartender Telly. While Telly is sweet and charismatic THAT GIRL CAN HOLD HER OWN.. in the beginning we see Telly face a challenge with Lisa and this leads to her becoming super emotional. She confides in Lisa that sometimes she makes poor decisions due to her personal struggles with making friends. She admits that as a bartender she often lets things slide due to not wanting to “step on anyone toes’ ‘. Lisa assures her after this emotional conversation that she (Telly) doesn’t need to make decisions based on other people. Especially in work life.
As Telly takes this conversation into account the following day- she continues to stand on business throughout her shift and in front of the guests. That is until Marciano tempts her….
Marciano is male head server who has a wild personality and a bold mouth. Lisa took him in to work for the villa due to his experience and reputation, however, he shows us within the first couple episodes just how crazy he can get…
While Telly is Head Bartender, Marciano is Head Server. So the two seem to butt heads a lot. A wild argument breaks out between them when Telly runs to the back of the villa grabbing a wine opener, while leaving the bar unattended. Marciana comes in and sees the bar left unattended with guests and lights a fire under Telly’s butt….he screams at her and tells her how poorly of a job she’s doing….. Since Telly and Marciana had been going back and forth all day – Telly finally exploded on him and PUT HIM IN HIS PLACE. AS SHE SHOULD!
While Marciano is a hardworking and experienced server – sometimes he takes his job for granted. As we’ve seen in the first couple episodes- he drinks on the job, he disrespects fellow employees, and even belittles Lisa Vanderpump. SO HOW COULD HE BE THE ONE TELLING SOMEONE ELSE HOW TO DO THEIR JOB! ?
Which has had me thinking….. could this mean that Marciano will only be a character for so long? In other Lisa Vanderpump shows, such as Vanderpump Rules, Lisa will often immediately get rid of boastful employees.
While we met a load of cast mates in the first couple of episodes- they all three heavily focused on Hannah, Marciano, and Telly. It’s easy to tell that these three are going to be our top iconic characters of the season. They somewhat remind me of Stassi, Jax, and Katie in the beginning of Vanderpump rules….. and now look how far Vanderpump Rules has gone….
As the show moves forward through- a lot of people are stirring up questions..
Does the start of a new show mean the end of an old one.. AKA Vanderpump Rules?
Let’s recap this season’s Vanderpump Rules so far… While the audience was heavily intrigued last season because of Sandavol, views have increasingly shot down this season due to no real drama happening. We’re 10 episodes in and all we have covered so far is that the group still hates Sandavol, Ariana and him are STILL sharing a house, and Something About Her is STILL in progress.
Something About Her is a sandwich shop that castmates Ariana and Katie have decided to open together. We saw a first glance at Something About Her in Season 8, and we’re now on Season 10 and there’s still no real progress with the shop.
The ladies held a tasting with other fellow group castmates and everyone was able to assert their opinion and advice… However, the group raised a lot of questions after they have already done this three times … .James even mentioned in his interview with production “Haven’t we already done this? Why can’t they just go ahead and open the shop? What is the hold up?” Well, James is asking the questions WE ALL WANT TO KNOW.
Also, with tension still rising between Tom and Ariana the audience has agreed that this chaos is getting old. If Ariana wants to really move on with her life then why are they both still choosing to live under the same roof? While Scandoval was one of the most entertaining seasons of reality tv- I think we can all agree that it’s getting quite old.
Instead of rehashing failures between the cast group , why isn’t producing more entertaining TV. For instance, James Kennedy has taken a wild turn in personality over the last couple of seasons. We used to know him as the villain, however the last couple of seasons have shown us that he prioritizes peace and his relationship over anything else. This is easy to tell considering his DJ career has taken off and his relationship just hit their one year anniversary mark!
Tom Scwarts has also taken a wild personality turn… even though he was caught in the midst of the scandal last season and was blamed for the majority- he has taken steps this season in order to create more loyal friendships. He has even distanced himself a lot from Tom Sandavol which I think has caused a great change in him.
Katie Maloney, Tom Schwarts ex-wife has also had a vast change. She used to be known as “tequila katie”. This was due to her drinking too much and exhibiting behaviors that are inappropriate or angry. However, this season she has really kept to herself and her own life. Last season we saw her arguing with the cast a lot, but this season she has prioritized her friendships and her business at the end of the day.
Speaking of Tom Scwarts and Katie, these two have really created a pure friendship this season. Due to the newness of their divorce last season I think the two were both on edge, but because both of them are over it now- they are both becoming really great friends. Tom even found out that Katie is seeing one of his best friends….
Everyone thought this was going to start World War 3- but the two stunned the group when the both showed maturity about the situation…
Plus, remember when Katie specifically asked Tom NOT to hook up with anyone in the friend group last season…. And then he went and hooked up with Raquel.. WHO IS IN THE FRIEND GROUP… So, at the point Tom doesn’t really get a say anyways considering he already did this to Katie previously….
