Movies are a part of everyone’s lives; streaming services have thrived during the pandemic. But, since theaters are now open again, and people are returning to their everyday lives, it is nice to go to the theater to see a new movie. So, today we will be reviewing the movies showing in Tuscaloosa.
The most controversial movie so far is Death on the Nile. So far, according to Google, Death on the Nile has received 3.8 stars. Many people undoubtedly have mixed reviews because of the leading actor Armie Hammer. He was in a scandal, and it just might sink the movie. This movie is a sequel to Murder on the Orient Express, following Hercule Poirot, who solves crimes for a living. No doubt that Death on the Nile is an exciting movie, but if the audience cannot get past Armie Hammer, this movie will flop.
Next, we have the movie Marry Me, starring Jennifer Lopez. Unfortunately, this movie was just released, so the ratings on Google are a bit awry. The audience rated this movie 3.7, and Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie 57%. On the Rotten Tomatoes website, the audience score was 93%, viewers enjoyed seeing this movie, and it comes highly recommended. The storyline takes the phrase “something old” and “something borrowed” heavily, and the leading actors make it easy to watch.
Next is Spider-Man: No Way Home. This movie has a high score of 4.8 stars, with Rotten Tomatoes giving this movie a score of 93%. Like all Spider-Man movies, this one is packed with action sequences. But, the best part of this movie was the return of the other Spider-Men, meaning Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s return. Sorry if you haven’t watched the film; this is a bit of a spoiler. Not only do the other superheroes come back, but so do the villains in the other movies. This movie has fun and exciting plot points, and we highly recommend you go and see this movie if you haven’t already.
Sing 2 has also reached the theaters and was a long time in the making. This movie is another highly rated movie with 4.8 stars on Google. However, this movie did not have a high rating on Rotten Tomatoes, only a 71% rating. 71% is not terrible, but these reviews are from critics. Maybe the critics do not like singing, but what can you expect from a movie that has sing in the title? The audience loved this movie so far, giving it 98%. This movie is for the whole family to watch, with it being entertaining to children and adults, and parents. We recommend watching this movie if you are looking for singing, dancing, and fun animations.
Scream is the next movie we would like to talk about. Unfortunately, this horror/thriller movie does not have a high rating. On Google, it got a 3.5 out of 5 stars, and Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie 76%. However, audiences seemed to enjoy this movie by giving it 81%. Scream is a franchise and is not afraid of callbacks in their films. I do not like horror or thrillers, but if you do, watch this movie; and the other that came before this one.
Another anticipated movie that was initially on a streaming service is Dune. This sci-fi/adventure movie was on HBO Max but was taken off and brought to the big screen. But, if you did not get the chance to watch this movie on the streaming service or in the theater, don’t worry; it’ll be coming back to HBO Max on March 10th. Many fans were disappointed in the movie due to Zenday’s small part. The trailer made it seem like she would have a big part in the movie, but she didn’t. After the movie came out, Zenday reassured the fans by saying that she would have a more significant role in the next film. That’s right; they are making second and third films. Google has a rating of 4.1, and Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie 83%. Another well-liked movie, we recommend watching it.
Other movies showing in Tuscaloosa are Blacklight, Moonfall, Licorice Pizza, Belfast, American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story, Redeeming Love, The Wolf and the Lion, and King Richard. We have also created a Spotify playlist of the albums from these movies.
