What’s new in Fitness in 2023?

With 2022 coming to an end and the new year ahead of us, many people are looking for ways to change up lifestyle habits in 2023. Understandably, it is difficult to know where to begin when picking up a new hobby, craft, or pastime. In the fitness world, there are constantly new trends and studies that come along to help better our understanding of the most optimal ways to keep our bodies healthy. We have come up with a few “ins and outs” of the current fitness industry that have been seemingly providing people with the best results. 

The first thing “in” is to set up a long term goal. When you begin any new hobby, initially you want to figure out “what exactly is my end goal.” Whether it is to lose weight, put on muscle, or just simply a way to keep you mentally healthy, it is important that you know why you will be dedicating time to this craft. Setting long term goals will also help you stay motivated throughout the long and tedious process of reaching the end desire that you have. What is “out” in fitness, is attempting to rush into resolutions, and expect to make progress quicker than you actually will. This can quickly discourage you, as this is the main reason people tend to give up on going to the gym shortly after they begin. Always remember, “the gym is a marathon, not a sprint.”

The second “In” for 2023, is to remember to always listen to your own body and mind. A lot of the time in the gym, people decide to follow a super strict regime that they heard about from an influencer, or found somewhere online. The truth is everyone grows at their own pace. Your body will tell you if it needs rest, and you should most definitely listen to it.Overworking yourself can cause you to hurt your body, and result in injury. 

Eating healthy could be the most important aspect when trying to achieve your fitness goals. Many people fail to do this because they simply do not believe they have enough time, and it can also be fairly pricey. Something new that has come out recently is the meal prep programs. There have been numerous companies that have started up that will make you meals and deliver them to your doorstep. It is essentially there for those who do not have the time to workout, go to work, and make their own healthy meals all in a day. Some of the latest trends in fitness that people have begun to catch a lot of people’s attention is what foods seem healthy to eat and what foods are actually healthy for you to eat. A lot of the natural foods like fruits, nuts, and vegetables. A lot of common mistakes people make are believing something is healthy, when it is indeed not. That is why when buying protein based products you should always stick to something with no additive sugar or something that is plant based. Fruits contain natural sugars and carbohydrates which is good for maintaining a good metabolism and fuel for energy. Artificial sugars and sweeteners can lead to weight gain and be harmful to your cardiovascular system.

Along with the latest ins and outs in terms of dieting, recently people have begun to realize that intermittent fasting is not the best way to lose weight. It can cause extra and unwanted stress which can also make you crave more unhealthy foods than usual. Instead what you want to do is satisfy your cravings with healthy options. Always remember everything in moderation is okay! As long as you maintain a balance of healthy foods and satisfy your sweet tooth. 

With even newer studies and technological advancements that have come out in the past year or so, there are new ways and equipment that people have begun to work out. The first thing is wearable technology that tracks all of your vitals. The fitbits or apps on the apple watch even tell you the amount of calories you burn throughout your workout as well as your heart rate. Along with this it can also track the amount of sleep you get, sitting time, and even body tempature. Going along with this, recently mobile apps that help you track your exercise output, and even help you track your diet have grown to become more popular. The second thing is free training with free weights as opposed to using machines. This forces you to have to control the weight, and allows you to get a better workout for the full body. The time that the body is under tension while performing exercises with free weights is greater than if you were to use outdated machines. 

Everyone knows that fitness can be an expensive hobby. After all, you have to either pay for a gym membership, or even buy your own equipment. This can make it difficult to achieve their fitness goals that they have set for themself. Another workout trend that has become more popular in late 2022 into 2023, is doing a lot of body weight movements. This consists of workouts like push up variations, pull up variations, dips, sit ups, etc. There will be a link to numerous body weight workouts that you can do at home whenever you can squeeze in time at the end. The best part about these workouts is you can also do these in the comfort of your own home, no matter how much space you have. Although people have known about training with just body weight for a while now, it has not really begun to become popular and be put into many workout programs till fairly recently. 

The trends in the fitness world will constantly be changing, and keeping up with it will help provide you with the best results in the gym. Fitness is constantly evolving with changes in workouts, what foods are best for you, and optimal rest and sleep time.
