Wrap up!

Share

As the semester started, I set many goals for myself to achieve, and I can confidently say I have achieved them. I had many ups and downs but as my last semester in college is coming to an end I’m filled with so many emotions.  I truly can not believe that this semester is already over, I think it has been the fasted one yet. Being able to take this Twitch class has been such a cool journey. Out of all the classes I have taken here at the University of Alabama I can certainly say that this Twitch class has been the most fun and unique. First going into this class I really wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into, but I am glad I took it. I have always wondered what it would be like to have a podcast and now I know. Having all the resources we had was such a neat learning experience in this course, every week as we streamed I learned something new about the technology each and every time.

In this blog, I’m going to do one big recap and wrap up of every topic we went over each week. Throwback to the first week of content our topic was everything you needed to know about the Oscars. Doesn’t it feel like the first week of our content was more recent than months ago or is it just me…? Anyway, talking about the Oscars was cool and learning about all the history. How it started in Hollywood with 50 attendees and now how much it has evolved and grown. In the stream, we went over all the nominations, and then we did a little guessing game of all our guesses. The Instagram post Quentin made from this weeks was my favorite. He created a graphic of our top 5 movies of 2022. Coming in first was Everything everywhere all at once, the second was Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio, third was Batman, the fourth was Puss in Boots: The last wish, and last but not least in fifth place was Bullet Train. Moving onto the second week our topic was everything about the Superbowl. During the stream, we mainly talked about our favorite Super Bowl commercials and watched them. Our favorite commercial of 2023 was Jack Harlow, Missy Elliott and Elton John for Doritos. We also talked about our favorite Super Bowl meals, because of course, we had to. My favorite snack to watch during football games is just a classic chips and salsa, you can never go wrong. I truly feel like the food aspect of this day is crazy, I remember reading a fact about how much food was eaten on this day, and I was blown away.

Moving onto the next week our topic was all the best songs of 2022. This stream was one of my favorite moments. Quentin and I had a list of top ten songs we both agreed on and then we each guessed each other’s top 5 songs and I got all of his right. He didn’t get many of mine right, but it was hysterical. I think some of the top five songs we both agreed on were Glimpse of us by Joji, as it was by Harry Styles, and Body Shop by Sam Smith. There were a few more, but I don’t remember them right now. The graphic Quentin created for this week’s Instagram post was pretty cool too, it was a stream-time announcement with some top artists around it. Now getting into the next week of content our topic was our favorite shows of 2023 and our favorite shows in general. During this time we felt this topic was a good idea because so many shows were coming out during it. Our top three showed were White Lotus, YOU, and Outer Banks. So my top favorite was White Lotus. I think I binged the whole thing in like max four days. There are two seasons and each season isn’t related to each other, I don’t know how to explain this show, but you just have to just give it a try. So many people were anticipating the new seasons of YOU and Outer Banks, and they were pretty good.

Our topic of the following week was the best places to take your parents in Tuscaloosa. This pitch was at the end of February, and it was the peak parent’s weekend era. So we decided it was the best time to create a perfect parents’ weekend itinerary. At 10 am we started at Rama Jamas for breakfast and mimosas,  after that we headed downtown for a shopping spree. For lunch, we hit Taco Mama, then around late afternoon go catch a baseball game. Then for dinner go to River and end the night at Innisfree Irish Pub. If you follow this day we guarantee a good time and a deep sleep. Our next week’s content was all about road trip entertainment. We thought this topic was fitting because it was during spring break. So we decided to help you all with some ideas during your long car ride or even flight. My favorite way to pass time is definitely a good book that I can’t put down. The next week’s topic was nostalgic video games. During our stream, we played so many cool math games. It brought back so many memories, when I was younger I use to play those games all the time. This stream was definitely one of our most fun and interactive ones. Quentin definitely beat me numerous times though, but it’s ok.

The following week’s content was about all the celebrity beef and drama. The timing of this stream was perfect because it was right when all the drama happened with Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber. In case you forget ill give you a little recap on what happened. So Selena accidentally got her eyebrows laminated a little too much and posted a Tik Tok about it. Later that night Selena posted a picture on her story, and it was a screenshot of her and Kylie Jenner on FaceTime, and it was a zoomed-up picture of them showing off their eyebrows. After that many fans speculated that Hailey and Kylie were making fun of Selena. A little later on some fans started to comment on their socials and Selena commented back sometime along the lines of “Thank you guys for sticking up for me”. Now Hailey and Kylie are being portrayed as the mean girls, but I kinda get the feeling that they really are after this whole situation. Moving onto our next topic, Oculus games. So during this week’s stream, Quentin actually brought his Oculus in for us to play with. I had never played with one until he brought his and woah was it so cool. I’ve only heard great things about it but playing with it and playing different games were really so much fun. I highly suggest to anyone who has never used one to try and get their hands on one. Since we were getting closer to the end of the year, the next week’s topic was a before you graduate bucket list. Some of those things include going to a University of Alabama baseball game, going to Rama Jamas, and having a picnic on the quad with all your friends. The next week’s content was throwback media, during our stream we talked about all the best tweets of all time and how much we missed Vine. One of the last week’s content was about Stagecoach and Coachella. It was during the time of the festivals, so it was perfect.

Now we are ending our last week’s content with a wrap-up of the whole semester and our favorite moments. Wow, what a semester it has been, thanks to all of you for tuning into our content and for a great semester!
