Strengths and Weaknesses of the Crimson Tide coming into A-Day

With the Spring game coming soon, the Alabama Crimson tide have begun full contact spring practices. After a tough ending to last season, the Tide are looking for vengeance. With a few practices under their belt Head Coach Nick Saban has been happy with the effort he has seen this year.

The team has a lot of returners from the previous year, and from what Saban has said it seems they have really stepped into their leadership roles. From returning Heisman winner Bryce Young to returning Heisman nominee Will Anderson, the team has strong leadership coming into the season.

The team is not shy of weaknesses however as a large portion of depth has been lost in the CB and WR positions leaving space for newcomers to step up. Saban had a lot of good things to say about these positions though as he believes the players are making great progress and have fully committed to the game plan for the season.

This year’s Alabama team also has received additions from the transfer portal in CB Eli Ricks and in the RB squad in Jahmyr Gibbs. Saban has liked what he has seen from the transfers and said they will be great additions to the team come fall.

Going into the spring game the main thing to look out for is the running back rotation and wide receiver capabilities. With a strong running back core, it will be interesting to see what players get the most carriers and production at the end of the day. The wide receiver core seems to be having some struggles as returning star Agiye Hall has been suspended for undisclosed reasons.

With all these factors coming into play it will be very interesting to see the capabilities of the 2023 Crimson Tide. The consensus seems to be the tide will be a tough defensive team, with an offense that only time will tell of their capabilities.

A-day will be a great opportunity to see who is going to step up to fill the gaps in the team come fall. There will need to be major strides in the WR, RB, and O-Line if the team wishes to take the title back to Tuscaloosa.
