Sapphire Beach Club is located in Cupecoy, on the Dutch side of the island. On site there are tons of amenities to explore like the pool, private beach, gym, salon, market, pool bar and Sapphire Cafe. If that is not enough you can always walk down to Mullet Bay beach, one of the top rated beaches in the Caribbean. Within walking distance to the left of the hotel is Porto Cupecoy which is home to some of the best food on the island. Some of our favorites are Mama’s Italian, Rendez Vous Lounge, and Ginger II. If you take a right leaving the hotel you can walk down to Jordan Village where you can find Carrefour Express Market and more restaurant options including Fat Tons, Bar Code and if you are feeling like a lighter meal, the Natural Cafe.
Mondays
Sapphire has a loaded schedule on Mondays. At the resort, Mondays can truly be the best day of the week (unlike at home!). If going to the gym is not your thing, sapphire has another opportunity for you to work out. Start your day and your week off right with Aquagym at the sapphire pool from 9:30-10:15 am. It isa water aerobics class that will get your body moving for sure. As a little reward, go ahead and stop at the 12-1pm happy hour at the poolside bar. Before 6pm, you can make the most of your day, at one of the many amenities stated above. I suggest heading to the pool or the resort’s private beach! But make sure you are in the resort lobby at 6pm to the wine and cheese party with live music. Now the party will only last an hour but do not fear! At 7pm, is when the real party starts. Stay downstairs, and stroll on over to karaoke tight next to the bar with Eduardo. Karaoke ends at 10 and is always a good time. You even get a free shot from Veronique if you need a bit of liquid courage to perform in front of people.
Tuesday
Other than the daily happy hours from 12-1 and 5-6, the resort does not have much going on. But, as we have stated, the resort is very centrally located. For lunch we suggest Rendez Vous Lounge. They have a steak panini that is to die for! And, if you want leftovers, their Caesar pizza is a white sauce pizza with chicken, and is incredibly filling and reheats great for a snack later. After lunch explore the shops in the surrounding area and find some nice clothes and beach accessories. Maybe even get a couple groceries or midnight snacks from the grocery store. Head back to the resort to enjoy the pool before dinner. For a dinner on Tuesdays, the best and frankly most delicious option is Fat Tony’s in the Jordan Village. On this special day, they have a 23 dollar steak night. For just $23 you get a juicy ribeye steak, a small salad, a roll and the best baked potato you will ever have (at least we think so!).
Wednesday
On Wednesday, in the sapphire outdoor dining area, Sapphire Cafe, a member of the staff, Marsha, hosts a bingo game! You can grab all of your friends and family, and meet at 4:30 for an hour for a riveting game of bingo. Now you may think Bingo is for old people, but around your friends and family, it can get intense! Especially when you are playing for prizes like jewelry, beach bags, towels, coolers, and free food! After bingo is over, you have some time to stop by the poolside bar, next to the Sapphire Cafe, and grab a couple of happy hour drinks before it ends at 6!
Thursday
Just like on monday, you can start your day off on the right foot and do aquagym. After you have had a full day exploring or just relaxing at the pool or beach, you have the opportunity to enjoy some barbecue and live music at the sapphire cafe with Ricki. Trust us, you do not want to miss the authentic, tender, unique Caribbean chicken and ribs. After dinner be sure to take a walk down to Cupecoy beach. While this beach is not the best for swimming it is the best place to watch the sunset. When the sun has gone down be sure to grab a drink at the beach bar before walking back to Sapphire for the night.
Friday
In the morning be sure to stop and visit Ramona for a lovely breakfast down at the Sapphire Cafe to kick off your weekend. The most popular breakfast choice is a combination of breakfast potatoes, eggs, fruit, bacon, and toast or a croissant. There are plenty of places around the resort to explore during the day. However, once you have settled in and decided on dinner at the resort, we recommend the Caesar salad with chicken! You absolutely must stick around downstairs at the sapphire cafe for live music with Axel. He has the voice of an angel and certainly a way with words. He will make you want to get up and dance. His energy is electric!
Saturday
After a tiring day of exploring the island, stop down at the Sapphire cafe for BBQ night where you can get a plate of chicken and ribs with a side of rice or baked potato. If you are feeling up for it, just a short drive from the resort, there is an area called Maho, with a thriving night-life scene. We suggest heading to Moonbar. It is a roof-top bar with great drinks, great music, and a great view.
Sunday
Before you depart, you have to experience Veronique’s Sunday spread. She makes this special platter for breakfast only on Sunday mornings. The breakfast varies from all other days, but it is in the best way possible. It is a surprise each Sunday, so you will just have to come and see what she serves for yourself. Head home with a full stomach, and knowing that you wasted no time during your memorable week at Sapphire Beach Club Resort.
