Sint Maarten:Battle of the Bakeries

Bakeries

Sint Maarten is home to some fabulous bakeries, sprinkled throughout the island. Some give off a homey feel and others are fancier with a wide assortment of foods. Whether you’re searching for a quick place to stop in the neighborhood or you want to experience fine pastries, Sint Maarten is the place for you and yours. So, let’s get to it and break down the Battle of the Bakeries! Let’s start local and when I say local I mean a quick walk from the Cupecoy area at which I’m staying. AND seriously it’s a quick walk, because anything more I wouldn’t be walking.

  • Nearby
  • Not too busy
  • Friendly workers
  • Cute atmosphere
  • Good menu selection
  • Fair pricing
  • Fresh goods

Baguettelle is a small and friendly bakery in the Jordan Village area. Kind workers with a family and community oriented atmosphere. They serve an array of pastries, foods, and drinks. Baguettelle has a menu where you can choose delicious sandwiches and more, to take with you on your adventures around Sint Maarten.

Need to drop in quickly and pick up a drink, no worries they have a fridge section available as well. This bakery is quaint and cute boasting an adorable design theme of cute colors and yummy pastries around the store. From Baguettelle, I got a yummy slice of Flan. Large and filling for only a few dollars. They had donuts and tarts on display as well. I truly had a hard time choosing what sweet treat I wanted from this adorable little bakery. While I was browsing in Baguettelle a young boy ran in to grab an after school snack. He was too short to reach his drink of choice as it was on the top shelf

Chez Fernand La French Bakery 9/10

Chez Fernand Bakery near Sint Maarten
French bakery located near Sint Maarten
  • Excellent assortment
  • All names are in french (workers will help you)
  • Freshly baked goods
  • Natural juices
  • Not very allergy friendly
  • Fair pricing

Chez Fernand is a gorgeous bakery that’s only a small drive from Sint Maarten. Located in Marigot, sits this wonderful French bakery. I have never seen baked goods as beautiful as the ones at Chez Fernand. I mean gorgeous and aesthetic pastries and foods, available in a wide variety. I had a wonderful Vanilla caramel tart and I went back only a few days later to grab yet another one. I had friends who went and got the same thing because they loved how delicious it looked and had to try it for themselves. I am talking about fresh and mouth watering foods and  pastries.

They have quiches that are perfect for reheating for breakfast and probably even better to be eaten warm at the bakery itself. You can get fluffy croissants or delightful cold wraps. Everything at Chez Fernand looks so yummy and the prices are incredible. Less than 75 cents for fresh and crispy baguettes and a few dollars for pressed juices to wash it all down. Just a quick trip from your place in Sint Maarten sits this gem in the heart of Marigot. Plus you and your group can walk all that food off by touring around some stunning picture destinations in the area. Don’t forget to grab some for later because you’ll want more!
