TwitchTalks was live again this week on Twitch with another interesting question for UA students. The question for this week was, “What is the best-drunk food in Tuscaloosa?”
One of the most common responses that were received for this question was from the famous Quick Grill. If you have ever been on the strip in Tuscaloosa, you know about this place. This is one of the most iconic places in Tuscaloosa for students at UA. Everyone remembers their first Quick Grill experience. With most of the responses of Quick Grill, a lot of students cited the messy fries being the reason they chose this place. It is also hard to beat when it is literally stepping away from bars on the strip. Great location and great food are a perfect combination for drunk students.
Another response with Quick Grill was a veggie burger from there. I have never had this from there, so I am not going to knock it or endorse it. “Sorry but Quick Grill has always done me right,” was another response and we agree. I don’t know if Quick Grill can ever go wrong when you are hungry after the bar.
“Waffle House and midnight sushi (rip),” was submitted as well. Waffle House I saw coming, but Midnight Sushi I did not. Waffle House is like that place that will always be there for you no matter how drunk you are. It seems like you can always find one even when you aren’t even trying to. I am not so sure about Midnight Sushi, however. I don’t know about anyone else, but sushi does not sound very appealing to me when drunk. Something with grease is what really speaks to me around that time.
Another response that surprised us was, “Big Daddy’s, RIP.” This was for Big Daddy’s Mediterranean Grill that had to permanently close. Along with being a hookah lounge, it sold a huge variety of food for its customers. It is sad to see this place go. I am sure many students have great memories here.
Taco Bell was also one of the favorites in the responses. I only can think the addition of putting one right next to Rounders has only increased the number of people going here when they are drunk. Just like Quick Grill, it has a great location. With it also having a kiosk you can order at too; this only makes it better. Just being able to walk up and type your order in is so much more efficient and we can only hope that other companies start making this more common as well. I mean who sees a Taco Bell after walking out of the bar and doesn’t at least think about it?
Jimmy Johns also made the list as well. Delivery taking like 15 minutes and it not being relatively expensive must be the reason. Also being able to order through the app and not talk to anyone and still get your food that fast. Just convenient for when you are drunk and don’t want to move. Convenience is one of the main factors for people getting drunk food. No one wants to wait on food while they are drunk and hungry. Have any interesting stories that you would like us to discuss?
