What’s Next for Alabama Basketball

Share

After the Crimson Tide lost to Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA tournament three players entered the NCAA transfer portal, Keon Amrbose-Hylton, Alex Tchikou, true freshman Jusaun Holt,  and Jaden Quinerly.

Keon Amrbose-Hylton – As the season progressed, the sophomore forward saw his playing time decrease. In the early part of the season, Ambrose-Hylton was averaging just over six minutes per game while head coach Nate Oats was still working out the rotation. He appeared in just two minutes total during the final 18 games of the season, with his only action coming in the final minutes of South Carolina’s blowout on senior night. He had action in 11 games, averaging 5.5 minutes per game, 1 point, and 0.8 rebounds.

Alex Tchikou – During his two years in Tuscaloosa, the redshirt freshman only appeared in three games. Tchikou tore his achilles tendon prior to the 2020-21 season, keeping him out for the whole season, and he was never able to work his way back into the lineup.

Jaden Quinerly – The walk-on guard only played 3 games this past season. He has little to no stats and is looking for opportunities to highlight his talent elsewhere.

A few other tide players may test the transfer portal, including sophomore Darius Miles, and sophomore Juwan Gary.

Alabama men’s basketball could be looking at a strong rebuild as 3 seniors are on their way out the door as well. Keon Ellis, James Rojas, and Jahvon Quinerly are all looking to test the skills at the professional level. Along with freshman J.D. Davidson and junior Jaden Shackelford. Both are looking to explore their professional options as well.

Nate Oats and Alabama fans can look forward to some returning players. Charles Bediako, Nimarri Burnett, Noah Gurley is all most likely to return to the tide. The tide also has signed a five-man class featuring five-stars Jaden Bradley and Brandon Miller plus Noah Clowney, Rylan Griffen and community college transfer Nick Pringle. Sports Illustrated All-American has it ranked as the No. 3 overall recruiting class in the country.
